| Simply Burns is a show that celebrates the life and works of Scotland's greatest poet, Robert Burns. There are songs... there are poems... some familiar and some you've never heard before. And for anyone who hasn't been able to get 'into' Burns, there are some pleasant surprises.
If you’ve been to the show, then we hope this site will be a reminder of an enjoyable evening. If you haven’t been, then we’ll hope to see you in the audience some time soon....meanwhile, please stay a bit and browse, leave us a comment, listen to some samples, and maybe even buy a CD.
Exciting News... Changes for Simply Burns in 2010 Spring of 2010 finds us saying goodbye to one of our founding members. Claire Hewitt has been given a fantastic opportunity to pursue a new aspect of her storytelling career (see below), and while we'll miss her, we all wish her the greatest success. With every endiing comes the opportunity for a new beginning, and we are all very pleased to welcome the newest member of Simply Burns, Kenny Graham. Kenny plays guitar, cittern, mandolin and other stringy-things. He also plays whistle, and has a lovely baritone voice. The addition of Kenny to our group means that we'll be taking time out to completely revamp the show... adding some new songs and rewriting arrangements to take advantage of the new instruments and vocal range that are available to us. Right now, we're planning to be back with the new version of the show in early 2011, just in time for Burns Suppers and other celebrations. We'll keep you posted on the 'news' page of this site. And as for Claire... The Silver Branch Storytelling initiative in Highland Perthshire was created three years ago with local professional storyteller Claire Hewitt and with the voluntary support of Pitlochry in Bloom. In a felted storytelling yurt, Claire has delivered tales of magic and wonder to over 4,000 visitors at the Autumn Festivals.
